MUZAFFARGARH: A man named Zareef Jhallan, on Saturday, along with six of his accomplices brutally tortured Muhammad Yameen and tried to gouge his eyes out for marrying his ex-wife.

According to the Station House Officer (SHO) Seetpur Police station, Zareef had divorced his wife Shazia two years ago after a domestic feud. Shazia later married Yameen.

On Saturday, Zareef, and his armed companions, attacked Yameen when they found him in a nearby village. They broke his limbs before trying to gouge out his eyes.

Fortunately, the attackers failed in their attempt when the locals in the area interrupted and saved Yameen.

Soon after the incident, the locals rushed Yameen to Seetpur Rural Health Centre for treatment from where he was later shifted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Ali Pur where doctors are trying to restore his eyesight.

"We have registered a case against the attackers. No one will go unpunished," claimed the District Police Officer Muzaffargarh, Asad Malik.

According to police officials, Zareef was also wanted in a case pertaining to snatching at gunpoint.
