LAHORE:

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched an Emergency Free Mobile Phone Charging Service for the public at 30 locations in Lahore during the first phase, with plans to expand the facility to 100 points across the city in the near future.

According to a PSCA spokesperson, the initiative offers four integrated public safety facilities at a single location in key areas of Lahore.

These include emergency free mobile phone charging ports, panic buttons, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi and round the clock citizen surveillance through designated Safety Zones.

The spokesperson said the initiative aims to provide immediate assistance to citizens during emergencies while further strengthening the city's public safety infrastructure.

In the initial phase, charging ports have been activated at 30 high-footfall and strategically important locations.

The facility will be expanded in phases, with site selection based on public needs, convenience and crowd density.

Citizens have already started benefiting from the service, which ensures uninterrupted communication in emergency situations and enhances the overall sense of security.

The PSCA spokesperson added that Safety Zones are being further upgraded with advanced technology to improve monitoring and public facilitation.

The initiative was described as another milestone in promoting public safety and advancing the Smart City vision, reflecting the Punjab government's commitment to introducing innovative, citizen-centric projects across the province.
