LIAQATPUR: A young boy ran away from home after his parents scolded and hit him over getting a poor end-of-term result. Chak No 315 6R resident 14-year-old Muhammad Akram vanished on his way from school and never reached home. Akram’s older brother Ameen filed a kidnapping case with the Liaqatpur police.

Police officials spent two days searching for Akram until they found his friend who said he had received a call from Akram. Police officials found Akram near the Bhalwal bridge, where he told them that he had run away from home because his parents often beat him and abused him. “I took some money from my father’s closet and left after school,” Akram told the police. He said that he had spent two days sleeping in the Katoria Hospital mosque and when his money ran out he contacted his friend at school to help him. Liaqatpur constable Naveed Alvi said that the boy did bear signs of abuse as his face was bruised. “His friend called the family and they told us where he might be,” Alvi said, adding that the boy was reluctant to return home. Police officials warned the family to treat him better and admonished them for filing a false kidnapping case.
