GUJRANAWALA: A man was killed and another was injured in a road accident in Gujranwala on Friday. Police said the men were criminals and had robbed a family just before getting into an accident. They said Shehzad Khan and Imran had stopped a car that was travelling from Alipur Chatha to Lahore. Asghar, who was in the car, told the police that the robbers had taken away 20 tolas of gold ornaments and money from them.

Deedar Singh police said soon after looting the travellers, the men had met an accident with a donkey cart. Khan sustained injuries to the head and later died. Police said they had arrested Imran and recovered Rs100,000 from him. They, however, did not find gold on any of the men. Imran’s family told journalists that they believed that the police had implicated him in a false case.
