Multan sets target for early cotton cultivation
Commissioner directed field staff of the Agriculture Department to remain fully active in addressing farmers' issues

The Punjab government has set a target of cultivating cotton on 315,000 acres under the early sowing programme in Multan Division for the 2026-27 season.
The target was shared at a meeting chaired by Aamir Kareem Khan, Commissioner Multan Division, and attended by senior officials of the Agriculture Department.
According to a briefing, cotton has already been sown on 16,000 acres, while 20,244 farmers have been registered under the campaign so far.
A total of 97,564 acres has also been registered across the division.
District-wise targets include 62,811 acres for Multan, 87,791 acres for Khanewal, 71,914 acres for Lodhran, and 92,484 acres for Vehari.
Director Agriculture (Extension) Shehzad Sabir gave a detailed presentation on the current status of cotton cultivation and outlined the future strategy to achieve the set targets.
