92 operation: Rangers asks MQM to hand over custody of 187 suspected cop killers

Paramilitary force provides list of suspects who allegedly killed those policemen who participated in 1992 operation

KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers on Tuesday evening sent a letter to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar, seeking custody of 187 men who are nominated in the target killing of all policemen who participated in the 1992 operation in Karachi.

According to a letter, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, the R anges said that all police officials who had participated in the 90’s operation against MQM had been assassinated one, by one.

The letter added that 187 men, allegedly belonging to the militant wing of MQM-A (the main MQM group), had been nominated in the FIRs of these murders.

The paramilitary force, while providing a list of suspects, demanded that the MQM hand over custody of these men to the Rangers so that investigations into the cases against them can move forward.

The letter was also sent to the Sindh Chief Minister’s secretariat, secretary Home Department, the IG Police Sindh and AIG Karachi.

We all saw the killings on 12th May incident In Karachi. Was any one punished in the court?. MQM did not allow the court proceeding to move forward and IT disrupted the proceedings by sending its workers on the day of hearing at Sindh High Court..

This raise questions on the credibility of the list. If the law enforcement agency such as rangers doesnot have full information like fathers name or address, how can they expect MQM to handover these people Is this some kind of a joke from Rangers? Propably it is Ghost list.

Murder, torture, decapitation, abuse, arrests, harassment : this is what the rangers and police did to folks connected with the MQM in the 1990s, guilty or not. Thousands affected and uprooted. If this is your definition of being brave, then it explains why we are so uncivilized as a nation.

Pak media including Et , are equally guilty of concealing the facts.Muster moral courage to do some real unbiased journalism. Et probably would not publish this. "Brave commando" facilitate this or neglected! Some body must know. Let us see how much of a moral courage you guys have. Many people from Karachi tell all this when they are in Chicago . But keep ominous silence in Pakistan.
