Scores of workers of power loom factories on Thursday protested against factory owners for failing to ensure payment of wages.


The protesters gathered near SatwanMeel Stop at Jhang Road where they staged a sit-in for several hours.

Talking to newsmen, Labour Qaumi Movement (LQM) SatwanMeelSector president Babar Shafiq said the government had announced Rs13,000 minimum wage in the 2015-16 budget,” he said.

He said factory owners had been asked to raise wages paid to workers accordingly.

Shafiqsaid when workers did not get full salaries for July, some of them protested at factories in SatwanMeel sector.He said they were dismissed for protesting.
