Heinous crime: Woman arrested for killing her children

FAISALABAD:

Police arrested a woman on Sunday for killing two of her children with an axe in Dijkot area. Talking to The Express Tribune, DSP Khalid Malik said the FIR had been registered on her husband’s complaint.

He said Jafar* had told them that he had married Salma 11 years ago. He said they had had four children. Jafar said he was unemployed. He said Salma had left him a few years ago after several altercations over money. He said they had four children. He said two of them had lived with their mother and the other two with their father.

He said Salma had gone to visit Jafar on Saturday. He said the couple had again had an argument. The DSP said her parents had told police that she had cried all evening after returning from Jafar’s house. He said early on Sunday, Salma killed her six-year-old daughter and four-year-old son with an axe while they were asleep.

He said her parents had told police that Salma was not mentally sound. They said she had been depressed over her situation.  Police took the bodies in custody and sent them to Allied Hospital for post-mortem examination.
