MUMBAI: Taken by the news of Bollywood superstar's prison sentence, a Salman Khan fan attempted suicide by consuming poison outside Bombay High Court premises as the actor's bail plea in the 2002 hit-and-run case was being heard.

The victim, said to be in his 30s, was immediately whisked off by the police to a nearby government hospital for treatment where his condition is being monitored.

A young fan traveled all the way from Delhi to Mumbai, just to show his support and love for the Dabangg star, reported Times of India. 

Amid tight security, huge crowds, of fans, celebrities and media persons gathered outside the court.



As Salman Khan’s two-day interim bail came to an end today, it was decided by the Bombay High Court to suspend the actor’s five-year sentence while his appeal was pending in the high court

The appeal is set to be heard in July and the actor was ordered to be on best behaviour. Although he has to surrender his passport to the police, Salman would be able to travel abroad with prior permission.

Salman was convicted in the September 2002 accident case in Bandra which had left one person dead and four other pavement dwellers injured.
