Training the trainers: Education planners get professional training

A total of 2,215 education managers have been trained in 54 trainings out of the 81 planned programmes in the financial year 2014-15, said sources at Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.


Academy of Educational Planning and Management (AEPAM) Islamabad has so far trained 12,000 education planners in 518 programmes, sources said. Participants were trained in the areas of educational planning and management, educational strategies and policy options, financial management, project cycle management, use of data in educational planning and management, computer literacy, research methodology and report writing.

In addition, Higher Education Commission (HEC) has provided professional training to 25,485 university employees including 17,597 faculty members and 7,888 non-faculty staff since its inception in September 2002.

The sources on Sunday explained that such programmes are an important component of HEC’s reform process with the aim of improving professional teaching, research skills, management competency, assessment techniques, English teaching and communication, leadership and governance, strategic management and institutional change under 11 different trainings programmes.

According to the sources, Pakistan Manpower Institute, working under administrative control of the ministry, has also trained 16,548 participants in a total of 483 training programmes.

During the financial year 2013-14, a total of 1,731 participants were trained in 45 workshops.
