The syndicate meeting of the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad held on Thursday turned down a proposal to sell 17 acres of land to the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (Pide).
QAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Javed Ashraf chaired the meeting, which was also attended by Senator Farhatullah Babar, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) chairperson and other members of the governing body of the university.
The university had planned to sell the land to the Pide, an independent body that falls under the Ministry of Planning and Development.
One of the members, who attended the meeting, said that the selection board on Thursday discussed the issue at length and majority of the members opposed selling of the land to the institute.
