Untimely deaths: CM meets heirs of deceased youngsters

Sharif gives cheques worth Rs2.5 million each to the families.

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday met the heirs of Syed Muhammad Murtaza, who was beaten to death in a street fight in Askari X on February 11, and Zain Rauf, who was killed in a fatal shooting in Cavalry Ground on April 1.

Murtaza and Rauf’s mothers received compensation cheques for Rs2.5 million each from the chief minister. Sharif told the relatives of the deceased that the government would fund the education of the families’ other children. The chief minister also announced a job for Murtaza’s brother.

He said that the government would pursue Murtaza and Rauf’s murder cases and assured them that justice would be meted out. The chief minister ordered the CCPO to quickly present the challan of the cases in court.

The mother and brother of Murtaza and the mother, aunt and uncle of Rauf were among those who met the chief minister. Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique, his spouse, Provincial Assembly Member Yasin Sohal, the CCPO and Investigation SSP were also present on the occasion.
