Balochistan Unrest: District council chief, guard kidnapped

The armed men held the chairman and his official tribal police guard at gunpoint

QUETTA: Members of an outlawed Baloch separatist organisation kidnapped the head of Kharan district council near Patken area of Kharan district on Saturday. According to a senior official of Balochistan Levies Force, the newly elected chairman of Kharan district council Sagheer Badini was going to a friend’s house when a group of armed men intercepted his vehicle in Patken area. The armed men held the chairman and his official tribal police guard at gunpoint and drove them away to an unknown location,” the senior official confirmed. The whereabouts of the kidnaped people are still unknown. The banned Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. Its spokesperson phoned the media persons in Quetta from an undisclosed location and said his organisation is responsible for the kidnappings. “The fate of the kidnapped men will be decided after thorough interrogation,” he said.
