This time we will light the firecrackers, Ajmal hits back at Indian commercial

Offspinner says he would play in the World Cup if the Pakistan Cricket Board asked

Web Desk February 09, 2015

LAHORE: Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal on Monday responded to an Indian advertisement poking fun at Pakistan's inability to ever win a World Cup game against India, saying Pakistan would break the ‘curse’ this time around.

The advertisement, that went viral on social media, showed a Pakistani man preparing his fireworks before every World Cup game between India vs Pakistan. However, the man would head back to store the fireworks after each of the World Cup games in 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003 and 2011 since Pakistan failed to win any of those games.

In the end, the man looked disappointed and said: “Kab phorangay yaar?

Responding to the last sentence in the ad, Ajmal said, “This time we will light the fireworks.”

“The ad is a sign that we will not be defeated this time,” he added, while speaking to the media in Lahore.

Pakistan and India clash on February 15 at the Adelaide Oval.

Ajmal, who recently cleared his bowling action after a protracted struggle of more than four months on reducing the flex in his right elbow, said he was unsure whether he will play in the World Cup.

“I have mileage to complete before I can inform the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), I am available.”

Syed Ahmed | 9 years ago | Reply Who has won more Pak-Ind Test matches? Pakistan or India? ignore these lowly Indians, they are just trying to mess with your minds.
BruteForce | 9 years ago | Reply He used to bowl excellent, illegal doosras. He cannot bowl one without bending his arms and all eyes will be on him. Have you seen Ajmal bowl in short sleeves like Murali? Because with long sleeves, the bend of the arm is easily seen. I hope he plays. a) Without a doosra he is a very ordinary bowler, without much spin or bounce. b) Australia is not spin friendly. But, stranger things have happened in Cricket and Pakistan can win, but for now, my money is on India.
