ISLAMABAD: Days after former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah denied involvement in the killing of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf activist during clashes with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in Faisalabad, the PTI  presented visual evidence against his claim and demanded his arrest.

“We are showing this to prove that Rana Sanaullah was involved in the entire episode and it was a planned killing operation of the PML-N,” PTI Secretary Information Dr Shireen Mazari said on Friday, while showing TV footage and pictures.

Mazari and Farrukh Habib, a PTI candidate from Faisalabad, shared videos and pictures of a PML-N meeting, which allegedly took place at circuit house before their December 8 protest in the city.

During the briefing, Habib pointed out Rana Shaheryar (Rana Sanaullah’s son-in-law), Attique Ansari, Mian Ayaz (business partner), Jamal Dogar, Sheikh Qaiser, Nadeem Mughal, Parvez Jutt taking part in PML-N meetings and being present during the clashes with PTI workers.

“We have lodged an FIR against Rana Sanaullah. There cannot be free and fair investigations until he is arrested,” Mazari said.

Twenty-three-year-old Haq Nawaz was shot dead allegedly by an unidentified PML-N worker during the Faisalabad rally on December 8.

However, PML-N leaders denied having any links with the shooter, who was identified by the media as Shahid Ali. Conflicting reports also identified him as Nadeem Mughal, who is a PML-N worker.

“Nothing really happened after the Model Town incident,” Mazari pointed out, saying Rana Sanauallah was merely removed from his post as law minister but no action was taken against him.

“Rana Sanaullah has links with proscribed organisations, has his own militant wing and after investigations, his links with the Raymond Davis case will also surface,” she added.

Mazari further claimed that the ruling PML-N has disassociated itself from the perpetrators of violence in Faisalabad, adding that however,  “if Rana Sanaullah's involvement is proven, the party would have to immediately arrest him.”

In addition, she demanded that the role of the bureaucracy and the police during the incident should also be investigated.

Talks not delayed

Further, Mazari clarified that talks with the government had not been delayed and the PTI had not withdrawn its demand of the prime minister's resignation.

“We have merely delayed the decision of our resignations from the assemblies and the demand for the PM's resignation,” she added.

Sharing details of negotiations, she said that a preliminary round of talks would take place between Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal and PTI leader Asad Umar on Sunday, following which there would a meeting between the two committees on Tuesday (December 16).

“We will not withdraw our call for protest in Lahore on December 15,” the PTI leader said in response to a question, while adding that the “withdrawal of the call for a shutdown of the entire country on December 18 would depend on the constitution of a judicial commission.”

“The government and the PTI had agreed on the constitution of a judicial commission through a presidential order and the differences were on ToRs of the commission,” she added.

To another question, Dr Mazari said, “We will engage in talks with the government only if it was serious and not trying to buy time. There is trust deficit and the government will have to prove its seriousness through action. “

“After the constitution of a judicial commission, we will consider calling off the countrywide shutdown,” she added.

@Asif Malik: Who is known for what, only Imran Khan and PTI people are allowed to decide. All their actions are justified for whatever reasons under their moral reasoning yet to be revealed and all their "proofs" hidden from the public.
