Burnt to ashes: Paper factory, two godowns catch fire

A paper factory caught fire in Sher Shah while two godowns in SITE were also engulfed by fire in separate incidents on Friday.


A major fire broke out in a paper factory located near Gulbai, Sher Shah at around 11:30am. The fire was intense and rapidly engulfed the entire building. A fire department spokesperson said that a total of 13 firetrucks participated in a hectic effort of nine hours to control the blaze. He said that the cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.  Nonetheless, the fire caused a loss of millions of rupees. Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries was reported.


Separately, a cloth warehouse and a rice warehouse caught fire in Habib Chowrangi and Haroonabad, respectively. According to a fire brigade spokesperson, no loss of life was reported. However, the causes of the fires have yet to be ascertained. He added that both the blazes were extinguished in three hours at around 3pm.
