RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi health department will begin a three-day polio vaccination drive from today in the district and its adjoining areas. The campaign is being launched with the help of the World Health Organization. According to health officials, special polio camps will be established at all exit and entry points of the city and polio vaccine shall be administered to all children under the age of five.

The district administration held a special meeting on Sunday to review the arrangements, where it was decided that no slackness by health workers will be tolerated during the drive. According to Additional Deputy Commissioner Talat Mehmood Gondal, 429 polio teams will go door-to-door and administer polio drops to 675,884 children in the district. He urged parents to cooperate with special teams so the set targetS could be achieved. “It is our collective responsibility to make the campaign result-oriented and successful,” he said.
