KARACHI:

A police constable allegedly killed his father-in-law in Sohrab Goth while two more people were killed in separate acts of violence in different parts of the metropolis on Friday.

A police constable identified as Rahim Buksh, son of Hadi Buksh, shot and killed his father-in-law, namely Nazeer Sharif, 56. The incident took place at the house of the deceased located at Ayub Goth within the limits of Sohrab Goth police.

Police officials said that the accused policeman had arrived at his in-laws' house to hold a dialogue with them to resolve a family dispute. However, an exchange of harsh words ensued and Buksh shot and killed his father-in-law with his official weapon. He fled after the incident.

The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to the family. A case has been registered against the constable while further investigations are under way.

The Kalakot police reported that a man, later identified as Khalid Baloch, was gunned down in a targeted attack at Cheel Chowk, Lyari. The deceased was shot multiple times and was injured. He was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Police officials said that the deceased was a cousin of Rauf Nazim, a close aide of Lyari's notorious gangster, Baba Ladla.

They added that Baloch was standing near his house when alleged gangsters, apparently belonging to the Uzair Baloch group, targeted him.

Meanwhile, the body of an unidentified man was found near the Clifton beach. Residents of the area informed the police and rescue workers reached the site and shifted the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. It was later shifted to the Edhi morgue, Sohrab Goth, for identification. Police officials said that the deceased had died of drowning. However, no torture marks or bullet wounds were found on his body. Police officials said that apparently he drowned while swimming in the sea.
