Shafiq records ton against Aussies

Helps Pakistan register 305 on first day of practice in Sharjah.

Asad Shafiq and Ahmed Shehzad achieved a superb innings on the opening day of the four-day practice match with Australia to give Pakistan a 305-run lead, ahead of the Test series starting on October 22.


Pakistan had won the toss and elected to bat at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE.

Shafiq scored 108 off 156 balls showering the ground with 13 fours and four sixes while Shehzad registered 55 off 100 with seven fours and two sixes.

Haris Sohail and Babar Azam also contributed with knocks of 43 and 40 runs respectively.

Meanwhile, Australian left-arm bowler Steve O’ Keefe took 3-76 in his 23 overs to remain the highest wicket-taker for the innings.

Pakistan will start their innings in pursuit of increasing their lead at 1100 (PST).
