LARKANA:

The students of Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC) held a large demonstration at Chandka Medical College on Thursday for the third consecutive day after boycotting the out-patient department and their academic sessions for the acceptance of their demands.

They also shouted slogans against the government for its failure in running this dental college along modern lines. Their demands include recognition and registration of the college with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and Higher Education Commission (HEC).

They complained that there are no facilities for hostel, library, information technology laboratory or even proper furniture in the college. They demanded that all the issues of the college must be resolved forthwith. BADC principal Dr Ilyas Shaikh said that a committee has been formed for finalising the college’s registration with the PMDC and HEC. He added that the contractor of the building has not yet handed over the building to the administration and has left the work incomplete.

He alleged that the contractor has embezzled government funds. He called upon the Sindh government to intervene to expedite the fulfilment of the students’ demands. He supported the protest of the students but added that the students should refrain from maligning their teachers as they cannot be held responsible for the faults.
