ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar directed on Monday the administration and law enforcement agencies of the twin cities to follow Supreme Court orders to relocate protesters from Constitution Avenue and be prepared for any emergency situation.

The minister held an emergency meeting with the Islamabad and Rawalpindi administration following Supreme Court orders to the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to clear the avenue for the free movement of traffic in one day.

The minister directed the administration and law enforcement agencies to ensure the implementation of Supreme Court’s orders in “true letter and spirit”.

Nisar further directed the administrations to be prepared for any emergency situation.

“He (Nisar) discussed with the administration of the twin cities the possible exit of the participants of the processions from Red Zone and to give them any other safe avenue as per the directions of the Supreme Court,” the statement read.

The interior minister also discussed possible avenues for the participants of the both the marches and security arrangements for the participants and the inhabitants of that area.

The statement further said that Nisar hopes that things would be settled soon. “Negotiations are in process and heading in a positive direction,” he said.

Ch. Nisar, please ask your FIA to also implement the Supreme Court order against Nawaz Sharif in the Asghar Khan case. That order remains unactioned even after about 2 years now.

With no malice or prejudice towards the apex court of Pakistan, I would like to know what is the basis of this order when the administration of the country, its policies and orders are the prerogative through the parliament to the ruling administration via the electoral process. Also with regard to Pakistani Canadians, the government recognizes their status as legitimate citizens of Pakistan also. It is regretted that such statements are emanating from such an august body.
