ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police have decided to take action against Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers for manhandling a police official at the party’s protest sit-in on August 16. According to officials, a case would be registered against PAT workers for injuring the official and snatching his official weapon. On Saturday, PAT workers caught and injured an armed man during Tahirul Qadris address who was later identified as a police official. The medical report of police commando Aqeel Qureshi, who serves as a guard of Federal Minister Riaz Pirzada, has also been obtained from Federal Government Services Hospital. However, officials at the SSP (Operations) office doubted the authenticity of the news and said they have been ordered not to enter the rallies and avoid any kind of clash. “We have been told from day one to stay away from the main rallies. The police official should have obeyed that order,” said an official.
