FAISALABAD:

District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal on Thursday ordered the Manarva Theater at Rajbah Road sealed after the detection of dengue larvae there.

The theatre manager and his assistant were also taken into custody. The DCO also inspected a private hospital on Canal Road. The administrator of the hospital was arrested for failing to make arrangements to stop the spread of dengue fever.

The DCO also visited several construction projects. Talking to reporters, Mengal said that the chances of dengue larvae’s growth increased during monsoon season and government departments should remain on alert. “There is no room for negligence and carelessness in anti-dengue measures. Awareness should be raised among people about this threat,” he said.

He directed the health department officials to regularly check water bodies in the city for dengue larvae.

Eid inspection

Earlier, Mengal had visited various areas of the city on the Eid day. During his visit, he suspended from service the entire staff of WASA Crisis Management Centre at Jhang Road, including Deputy Director Ejaz Latif and Assistant Director Adnan Gul who were absent from duty during rain.

He ordered the WASA staff to drain the rain water from the streets and low-lying areas. He said WASA officials should remain in the field and make the arrangements necessary for dealing with an emergency situation.
