The 90th meeting of Advanced Studies and Research Board of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) was held on Thursday with Vice Chancellor Major General (r) Muhammad Aslam in the chair.


The board considered thesis reports of Fatima Aslam for MPhil in behavioural sciences, Muhammad Shakil for MPhil in biochemistry, Rehma Dar for MPhil in chemical pathology, Dr Bushra Nisar for MPhil in morbid anatomy and Histopathology, Rabia Anjum for MPhil in oral pathology, Khursheed Javaid for MPhil in immunology, Anwar Zeb Khan for MS in general surgery, Basil Kamran for MS in orthopaedics, Mir Dost Muhammad for MS in urology, Shahjehan for MS in urology, Asrar Ahmed for MPhil in oral biology, Mohsin Ali Cheema for MPhil in physiology and Hira Asghar for MPhil in science of dental aterial. The following synopses were considered for registration of students in various postgraduate courses: Malnutrition and its contribution in under-5 children in Bhakkar by Saghir Asghar Khan; Sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of rK39-based ELISA test in patients recently diagnosed with visceral leishmaniasis by direct microscopic examination of bone marrow aspirate by Muhammad Idris; Aetiology and socio-demographic factors in microcytic hypochromic anaemia among paediatric population by Rizwana Nawaz, Modulation of TNF- level on buccal wound healing of Albino rats through polyphenol-rich cocoa powder extract by Maliha Shahbaz; Frequency of Helicobacter pylori in oesophageal mucosa of dyspeptic patients and its association with histopathological changes by Tahira Liaquat; DNA mismatch repair antigen (MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PMS2) expression in prostate adenocarcinoma by Samina Iqbal; Protective effect of Ajwa dates against alloxan-induced diabetes in rats by Dr. Amer Hassan Siddiqui; Hepatoprotective effect of oxyresveratrol on experimental model of isoniazid induced hepatotoxicity in mice by Muhamamd Abid; Molecular cloning and expression of fusion construct of human interferon Alpha 2b gene by Hafiz Talha Qayyum and Association of osteopontin gene promoter SNP (T-593A) with the risk of developing calcium oxalate urolithiasis by Ayesha Afzal.
