KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted interim protective bail to two suspects nominated in a case of sexual assault on a minor.

Justice Farooq Channa granted them bail in the sum of Rs25,000 each for four days with directions to surrender before the trial court. On Thursday, the applicants - Mansoor Naqvi and his mother, Naz Fatima - had approached the high court requesting protective bail.

Their lawyer, Muhammad Nadeem, submitted that the complainant, Samreen Asif, had lodged a false case against his clients, wherein she alleged that the applicant had tried to rape her five-year-old daughter. In the FIR, she also nominated the applicant’s mother as the co-accused.

Meanwhile, another bench, headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh, issued notices to authorities for May 10 on an application seeking fair investigation into the case.

Lawyer Nadeem submitted that his client, Naz Fatima, had approached the Sharae Faisal police to register an FIR against Asif for attacking her.
