HYDERABAD: Five law enforcement personnel will be booked in the murder case of Mir Nasir Talpur on an order given by Tharparkar’s district and sessions court on Thursday.

Mir Nasir Talpur was shot dead while returning from a hunt in the area’s Chacharo tehsil with four of his friends on April 7. The incident took place within the limits of the Khensar police station.

One of his friends, Muhammad Ali Talpur, was injured with gunshot wounds to the neck. The Rangers had detained Mir Sajjad Talpur, Mir Adil Talpur and Hanif Rahimon till a court notice was issued on April 16 for their release.

The LEAs, who belong to the 34th wing, claimed that the passengers inside the jeep were warned to stay back but they kept moving closer towards their check post near the border. They also claimed to have opened retaliatory fire once the men fired shots at the LEAs.

The Talpur family rejected, however, these claims. At a press conference held in Hyderabad a few days ago, Mir Nasir’s brother Mir Waqar Ali said that the FIR lodged by the LEAs against his brothers and friends contradicted their claims.

The FIR stated that they were found hunting in a prohibited area while a press release issued by the Rangers said the vehicle was moving in a sensitive area and that they opened fire on the LEAs when they tried to stop them.

According to Mir Waqar Ali, his brother had gone for deer hunting and was on his way back at around 2am when the incident took place. The LEAs brought the dead body and the injured to Chachro’s taluka hospital around 9am - nearly seven hours after the incident.

The family went to court after the Khensar police refused to register an FIR against the LEAs. On a petition filed by Muhammad Ali’s father, however, the judge ordered the police to register a case on Thursday.

The five LEAs nominated in the case will be inspector Muhammad Abbas, personnel Karamat Hussain, Nazar Hussain, Abdul Razaak and Muhammad Khalil.
