MULTAN:

As many as 684 applicants have submitted forms with the Agriculture Department for participation in a tehsil-level kitchen gardening contest in Multan district, officials said on Monday.

Executive District Officer Shafqat Hussain Bhutta said that committees had been formed to maintain score cards of every contestant through visual assessment. The score cards issued by the Punjab government would carry data including number of plants, their growth pattern, colour, physical condition, control of weeds and pests and expected production.

Some 515 people have filed applications from Multan tehsil, 58 from Shujaabad and 111 from Jalalpur Pirwala. Three contestants would be eligible for participation in the district-level contest. Farmers interested in taking part in the wheat production contest could obtain applications forms from the offices of DDO (agriculture) or agriculture officers (extension) and file them on or before February 28.

The forms can also be downloaded from www.agripunjab.gov.pk
