Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged his Indian counterpart to resume stalled peace process in order to resolve all outstanding issues including Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry, the prime minister’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Wednesday conveyed Nawaz’s message to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, seeking resolution of all issues with India through dialogue.
Aziz, who was in India to attend the Asia Europe Conference, met the Indian premier following his meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Tuesday.
“The adviser took the opportunity to convey the greetings of the prime minister of Pakistan to him and reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to have good neighbourly relations with India,” the Foreign Office spokesperson told reporters at his weekly briefing.
The need to address all outstanding issues through dialogue was also reaffirmed, he added. He described the engagements of the PM’s adviser in India as ‘constructive.’
“The meetings were held in a constructive and cordial atmosphere. All substantive issues were discussed,” the spokesman said.
He said Pakistan believes that the dialogue process is the most effective way to resolve outstanding issues.
“The issue of the ceasefire violations was also discussed. Pakistan believes that the ceasefire agreement of 2003 should be respected,” he maintained.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s demand for early meeting of the DGMOs of the two countries to work out a plan to restore ceasefire along LoC.
He said Pakistan believed that Kashmiri leadership ought to be associated with the dialogue process between India and Pakistan.

I agree. But the Hurriyat are not the elected representatives of the Kashmiri people. They have never stood for any election and will lose heavily if they do so. They represent a fringe pro Pakistan element and that's about it.
