Church matters: New bishop appointed for Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Reverend Monsignor Joseph Arshad was appointed the catholic bishop of Faisalabad on Wednesday. He completed his seminary studies from Christ the King Seminary, Karachi, in 1991 and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Lahore at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. He went on to complete his doctoral studies in Canon Law at the Pontifical Urban University in June 1999 and completed his studies in diplomacy at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy. He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See and served as an attaché and later secretary at the Apostolic Nunciature in Malta, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. He was the first Pakistani priest to join the diplomatic services of the Holy See.
