Iqbal, who is the PML-N’s general secretary, bagged a total of 47,789, while the runner-up candidate, musician PTI’s Abrarul Haq scored a meagre 22,369 in comparison.
Despite Haq’s high hopes of a ‘tsunami’ in this constituency, he scored less than half of Iqbal’s votes.
Iqbal, who was elected as MNA in 1993, 1997 and in 2008, is widely popular in Narowal.

It was unrealistic and arrogance of PTI supporters to claim victory even before the votes were cast. They had put all their eggs in one basket as if PTI is the only solution and the country would not exist if any other party is elected. I salute the people of Pakistan and they have spoken and I accept their decision just like Bilor did after his defeat. Pakistan would only going to get better with each election. There is no magic wand to solve all the problems in 90 days.
I had said lead would would be more than thirty thousand votes. I apologize, I was wrong.
