Many districts of Karachi have been merged into other districts.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notification for redrawing three National Assembly and eight provincial assembly constituencies of Karachi.
According to the notification, many districts of Karachi have been merged into other districts.
The constituencies include NA 239 (Karachi west/south) which Pakistan Peoples Party member Qadir Patel won in 2008. The registered number of voters in the constituency is 312,400.
The second National Assembly constituency NA 250 (district south/east) was also redrawn. In 2008, Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Khushbakht Shujaat was chosen as the representative in the constituency.
Dr Ayub Sheikh of the MQM was victorious in 2008 in NA 254 (Karachi east/Malir), where the registered number of voters are 309,017.
The provincial assembly seats include PS 89, the area of Keamari town (Karachi west/south). In the 2008 elections, PPP leader Akhtar Jadoon won from this constituency, where the number of registered voters is 146,223.
From another constituency, PS 112, MQM member Muqeem Alam won in the 2008 election. The number of registered voters in the constituency is 189,233.
MQM leader Askari Taqwi won the polls in 2008 from the PS 113 (Karachi south/east), which includes 155,424 registered voters.
PS 114 is also included among the provincial assembly constituencies. MQM’s Rauf Siddiqui was elected in the last elections to represent the constituency, where the number of voters is 175,582.
MQM leader Raza Haroon emerged successful in the last elections from PS 115 (Karachi east) which was also redrawn. The registered number of voters in the constituency is 161,611.
MQM leader Syed Sardar Ahmed was elected in PS 116, whereas MQM leader Faisal Subzwari won PS 118.
MQM’s Aleemur Rehman was successful in PS 124 in 2008. Areas of Korangi includes localities of Nasir Colony, Allahwala Town, Zia Colony, Korangi A 32, C, and B48 have been added to PS124.

only few seats why? why not whole karachi, If they can do operation in swat alone why not delimitation for good of karachi
@Muhajir: Stop being an ignorant. The constituencies are being redrawn because majority political parties have complained in court and the order was a result of those complaints. This is not the case with Lahore or Peshawar. Furthermore the constituencies of other places were not drawn the way Karachi's constituencies were redrawn to appease MQM. No one is pushing anyone against the wall, it's the MQM that is repeatedly banging its head and blaming others for headache.
