LAHORE: A petition was filed at the Lahore High Court on Monday to challenge amendments to the Peoples Representation Act (PRA) introduced by former president Pervez Musharaf. Tariq Ahmed petitioned that Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution barred all those with outstanding utility bills, tax payments and loans from participating in the general elections. Ahmed said Musharaf had amended the PRA to allow loan defaulters to participate in the elections. He prayed the court to take notice of the situation and declare those amendments null and void so that tax evaders cannot participate in the elections.
