An exhibition of paintings by Nazia Ejaz will open at Tanzara Gallery, House No.14, Street No.12, F-7/2 on Friday (January 25th) at 5pm, said a press release.

The exhibition will continue till February 5 from 11:30am to 6:30pm daily except Sundays.

The art of the Australia-based artist, who is successfully building a niche for herself locally and internationally, is avant-garde in flavour. She is the daughter of the legendary singer Madam Noor Jehan.

Her visual vocabulary, playful and teasing, focuses on the figure of a young woman who is skilfully juxtaposed with elements of design picked up from the backdrops of large flowers and patterns used to suggest a plethora of emotions.

Her recent series on “rickshaws” is bold and innovative. Composition is a strong component in all of her works and the play of light excites the canvasses, imbuing them with a refined sense of aesthetics.

It is also an area of focus that local artists have not addressed as yet. The paintings on display are inventive and symbolic with bright colour. She uses a strong palette and her sweeping strokes find a natural beginning and end.
