LAHORE:

Ferozepur Road will be open to traffic on both sides in one week, while a route for traffic from Garden Town’s Main Boulevard to Kalma Chowk will be open in five days, said Kalma Chowk Underpasses Project Director Khalid Alvi.

Alvi said that two lanes on Garden Town’s Main Boulevard will be opened in five days so traffic can turn left onto Ferozepur Road. Work on both sides of Ferozepur Road should be completed in seven days, he added.

The Metro Bus Service on Ferozepur Road is to be officially inaugurated on January 27. He said a total of 232 piles and eight top slabs had been laid for the elevated track of the MBS and the rest would be laid in the next four days. He was hopeful that they would be able to finish the project by January 31.

The project director said that work on the Kalma Chowk Underpasses had been held back somewhat due to unexpected land-sliding on one side. Therefore, it would be a while before the road for traffic from Gulberg to Garden Town could be opened.

Sub engineers in the Traffic Engineering and Planning Authority agreed that work on Ferozepur Road would be finished soon, but doubted that the road from Garden Town to Gulberg could be opened in five days.
