Siraj Talpur, a prime suspect in Shahzeb Khan murder case, claimed that he did not shoot the 20-year-old, but it was Shahrukh Jatoi who had fired the rounds, reported Express News on Sunday.
Siraj was apprehended from rural Sindh on Saturday and has been in police custody along with his brother Sajjad Talpur since then.
During initial investigation, Siraj said that Shahzeb and Shahrukh’s worker Murtaza Lashari had gotten into an argument after which Shahzeb slapped Lashari several times. He said that the argument was soon sorted out but Shahrukh shot Shahzeb multiple times when he later went out that night.
Siraj also agreed to be a state witness to the case, and said that he has not been able to sleep since the incident. He added that he has not been in contact with Shahrukh since he fled to rural Sindh and was hoping that Shahrukh’s father Sikandar Jatoi would save him.
The arrested suspects – Siraj, Sajjad and Lashari – are due to be presented in court tomorrow. The other two suspects in the case, Shahrukh and Sikandar, are still on the run, while the federal government has cancelled their passports.
Shahzeb was shot dead near his home in Defence last year. A popular student and son of DSP Aurangzaib, Shahzeb’s murder created an uproar in civil society.
The Supreme Court took suo motu notice of the case after the news spread that influential people were creating hurdles in the arrest of the suspects.
In its first hearing, the police were ordered to arrest the suspects within 24 hours or risk losing their jobs.

I am surprised that there were many mass murders like in Gilgit road when 30 plus persons killed in day light on that sensitive road which is continuously the Law Agencies observations and by then CJ not only taken the Suo Moto Notice but also not even commented the gruesome heinous crime......and on the this killing How he acted like Dark Justice Hero...My aim is that All Pakistanis have the same rights not the kiddies of influential ONLY
It is understandable that most readers, myself included are disgusted by the curcumstances that lead to the homicide of Shahzeb khan. The matter is with the SC and i urge all readers expressing their choice of punishment to wait fo the judgement. As it is certtain all 6-7 peolel booked did not kill shahzeb, maybe 1 or 2 did. This means there are different crimes ranging from protecting a murderer to being a murderer involved and each will get its own punishment. So please don't be rash and give everyone the right to present their case in court. I hope you agree with me and pray that the individuals involved in this henious crime are given maximum punishment as stated in the constitution.
Shahrukh has been arrested in Dubai according to news channels. Lets see what they will do with him after bringing him to Pakistan. I doubt that he will get any punishment as his father is a big man and knows many big shots. But DSP sahab and we want Justice so lets hope for the best. Shahrukh and Siraj are also very young, I doubt that they will hang them. But a father has lost his son, so did the mother. sisters have lost their brother and it was his sister's wedding when he was shot......hang them.

We want justice at any cost. The criminals must be punished. Writ of the government must be established.
Imagine, if the Supreme court is not aggressively active in Pakistan what would have been the state of justice. Can our society survive in years to come without the proper and obtainable justice. People need to get up against those corrupt and power hungry politicians and landlords and those strong people who are being acted as God on land. Exemplary punishment and public hanging to these butchers is the only solution.
Patience, humbleness and mutual respects have been gone for good for our society. We forget the very lesson of rights of neighbors. How can we not share our food to our neighbors. Why we are so arrogant.
We have to save our country from social disintegration. If not every one agrees to bring the change in our land of pure, who ever feels gloomy about it must take a step forward and do at least one thing for others and for country. Write letters to newspapers, write to the authorities, write to the courts, emails to politicians each time we see any matter of injustice or corrupt event
I have seen very arrogant ways in Karachi when politicians, Army generals and waderas drive their land cruisers with masked armed guards with large motorcades who gives dirty and scornful glare as others are insects.
They have no respect for any one other than themselves. Look at in Karachi the present state of affairs have already turned our Karachi into tribes. Red flags, MQM flags and Sunny Tehreek flags, PPP flags and many other flags all over the city. Why is it so.? Is it the private territories or part of a big country.
Supreme court and civil society take note of it. Only Pakistani flags should be hoisted in public places

@saima: I wish you do research before giving any comment.... search on internet and seven villigers are given death penalty 4 times and six are given life in prison and all policeman seen on camera or which are present on site are given 3 year in jail sentence.....

Don't tell me that our 'just' government is now listening to the very prime suspect involved in the murder?! Isn't he also the son of a 'big man'?!! In the same way, Shahrukh Jatoi can say it wasn't him who killed Shahzeb Khan, but the same Siraj Talpur pulled the trigger. Then? Will the blame still rest on the shoulders of Jatois?! I guess that's the 'just' aim of our government, oops the Chief justice I mean. Once and for all people, stop being dramatic and stop listening to stories until you don't see the proof with your own eyes.
Having a fight here and there is not unusual for young boys. Shooting someone and killing is a different thing altogether. No sympathies for Siraj, but he can get a lighter treatment if he supports the law enforcement agencies. Shahrukh is going to hang by the thread no 2 ways abt it.
i am strictly against hanging the accused. what they did was ridiculous, and i am sure we don't want to get down to their level by hanging them. the accused are 2 young people, giving them a life sentence would be enough to bring about a change in their lives. that's how i feel about it, your opinion might differ. have a nice day.

Exemplary punishment should be given
People who believe that being a dsp's son has taken shahzeb's case so far are wrong.
It's because of our country's youth. It's cause Allah is with him. It's because he was innocent and Allah doesn't let innocent people and their families suffer.
Shahzeb got compensated by Allah himself . He's SHAHEED. Now what all is happening is for his family.
The same action could have been taken for any of those innocent people killed, if their murders were known. And if we youth would have taken the same step earlier.
It's our fault that we were sleeping all this time. And our this attitude made rich people think they have the right to do what ever they wish to!
Instead of crying on why a DSP's son is close to getting justice be proud of him, his family and Pakistan's youth for bringing this change.

Good that there are arrest made by police but we should remember that it has done only because some brave young men took the Decision to stand for justice and highlited the matter to the top. I hope they will get justice soon and as we say " Delayed Justice is No Justice" .

Any 20 year old (or 11 year old for that matter) should have sense enough to realize that waving a gun around -let alone killing- over a minor argument is not on.

Siraj Talpur was witness to a crime but he neglected to come forward and inform the police, if he did not commit the murder then he should be tried for failure to report a major crime. Did he try to stop or discourage the murder, I believe he did not and he should be punished according to the law of the land.

Remember the case of mukhtara mai, all the rapists were proved innocents, remmber the lady who was raped by guards of Quaid azam mazar, They are back to their duty, Remember the small girl was raped and killed by 3 traffice police contable in kroangi, their master waderas got him acquitted. @ siama, With reference to your comment about Sialkot Brothers. All police officers who were involved or did not intervene to stop those brutal murders are back on their jobs. Rest of the culprits I am sure are also safe and sound. In Shehzeb case, evidence is not even one percent compared to Sialkot incident. Police has alrady ruined it by nominating a state witness. This happened because SC insulted police and look what they have done.
Regardless, he is should be penalized for abetment. BTW, loving how polices acting so fast.
State witness is needed when there is no eye witness or indisputable circumstancial evidence is unavailable. I think police has saved their jobs and culprits. Another Kohistan drama has been unfolded. Chief got his much needed projection but victim will never get justice.

I am not optimistic to see these murders to get punishment. Have we forgotten the BRUTAL MURDERS OF THE BROTHERS FROM SIALKOT???? What happen to the muderers ? Did they get capital punishment, did they got hung till death ?? No follow up of that case. Why would this time the murderers will get punishment. All the suo moto phenomenon will go down the drain.
What would Pakistan do without the Supreme Court ?

Such brutalities happening on daily basis all around the Pakistan, Most recent incident where 21 levi personals kidnapped from duty line and killed soon after a week. Must punish and make the ample with criminals of Shahzaib killers but CJ of Pak must open his eyes and see what happening in Gilgit-Baltistan as well as in KPK.
I congratulate Shahzeb's friends and family who are running this peaceful campaign for bringing these predators to a trial, this is a special breakthrough, not only a major suspect is in the custody of law enforcement but he is ready to become a state witness against the killer. This is the power of social media, if used in a positive way, it can bring a change in a society. I must say what a loving young man Shahzeb must have been, having such friends who are so dedicated for him, is such a blessing for him even after his death because this case can become an example, hopefully a 'wadera' will think a thousand times at least before opening fire on someone in a big city like Karachi (can't include small cities or village in the list). May Allah make this case a 'waseela' for stopping future bloodshed by these powerful breed who think they own us. I hope and pray that they capture the Jataoi soon ameen.

the fault lies with their parents. my father is a land lord but he has always emphasized on humility. 20 is not a mature age to make decisions, i wish their parents be punished for not raising their kids right. from what i see from his comments it seems pretty obvious the jatoi kid was at fault. talpur was an accomplice but not a murderer.

Siraj Talpur statement (assuming true) still he comes under Section or Dafah 307 along with other charges. Sharukh Jatoi under Section or Dafah 302 Penal Code plus other charges. Sikandar Jatoi should be charged n arrested under Section 307 plus other charges. Such young spoil brats must be given exemplary punishment, that's the only way to safe guard nation from future monsters.

Good to see positive progress on this case and I hope they catch and sentance the murderers as soon as possible.
On the flip side, its clear that in this country, if you are a common man with no DSP father or political backing, you have no hope for justice or any suo motos.
