Gunmen slay two Swat peace committee members

Gunmen opened fire on Tajen Khan, member of a local peace committee.

SWAT:


Two members of a peace committee were shot dead by gunmen in separate targeted attacks in Charbagh tehsil on Thursday night.


Gunmen opened fire on Tajen Khan, member of a local peace committee, while he was performing ablution for Isha prayers in a mosque in Sardarai hamlet, said Dildar Ghani, the SHO of Charbagh police station. Khan died instantly.

In a related incident, gunmen broke into the house of another peace committee member, Sardar Ali, in Gandero hamlet and opened indiscriminate fire. Ali was killed on the spot while his five-year-old son was wounded.

Police have registered an FIR against unidentified gunmen and mounted a manhunt.

Mangaltan is a hilly area of Charbagh tehsil which has remained a stronghold of Mullah Fazlullah-led militants.

So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
