The prominent US journal, The Carolina Political Review, says Pakistan has restored its strategic importance by utilising effective diplomacy and defence capability, Radio Pakistan reported on Sunday. In an article, the journal acknowledges the wisdom of Pakistani leadership in gaining recognition in the world.

The journal details that the India-Pakistan war in May this year proved Pakistan's defence capability and strengthened its international position.

The journal highlights that the war also gave a new direction to Pak-US relations and restored Washington's trust in Pakistan due to Islamabad's effective diplomacy.

It says the United States has given centrality to Pakistan's geographical importance by declaring it a key bridge between South Asia, the Gulf and Central Asia. The journal mentions the US President Donald Trump administration's National Security Strategy, issued last month, which terms Pakistan as a key ally of the United States.

It points out that Pakistan has opened new economic avenues based on national interest by maintaining multilateral balance along with CPEC.US President Trump, who has now on several occasions in the past praised Chief of Defence Force and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, has now called him a “highly respected general”.
