Express News correspondent Nadeem Ahmed said that initial reports have suggested that a bomb had been planted on a cycle and was detonated using a remote control. The person killed was a passerby, identified as Ansar Khan.
DIG West Akram Naeem, speaking to the media, confirmed Khan's death and said that around 40 people were on board the bus. He added that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) might have been used in the blast, and the Bomb Disposal Squad is trying to figure out the amount of explosives used.
He added that most of the injuries were due to the shattering of the glass windows.
The coach was reported to be traveling from Hub to Karachi.
Hub River Road is one of the main routes that connects the city of Karachi to Balochistan province. A large number of passenger coaches and other transportation use the route.

@Ex Suparco Employee: I want to correct some of your information. The bus was not coming from Sonmiani infact the bus was going from SUPARCO Plant to the city areas. Most of the passengers as confirmed were urdu speakings not sindhi speaking and passengers were not junior grade employees. There were few lower scale employees and others were mostly technical and admin staff. I winessed that blast as my bus was almost 50 to 60 meters behind the targeted bus. In past on same road last year a navy bus was attacked in similar fashion, and after few minutes another navy bus was targetted in DHA. In september 2003 a SUPARCO bus was targeted bu terrorists in which 11 employees lost their lives, later after investigations that attack was declared as a sectarian attack becaues the terrorists arrested in that case accepted that they wanted to killed 'shia' employees of SUPARCO ALTHOUGH SUNNI EMPLOYEES WERE ALSO BEEN KILLED AND INJURED IN THAT ATTACK.
@Ex Suparco Employee: How do you know? Are you from SUPARCO or "THE" agency?
Who ever people was in this bus please take care because you are someone husband son dad and brother unfortunately my brother was in the bus at the time thanks to allah you are all saved . we are in the u.k ,however we cant handle news like this xx Get Well Soon Allah tallah app sab ke efazat farmay AMMEN
We strongly condemn the attack on “SUPARCO” bus, and our condolences go out to the families of those killed. We also sympathize with the injured and pray for their fast and complete recovery. What is surprising is to see that after every attack there are some skeptics who never hesitate to blame the U.S. We categorically deny any involvement in these terrorist attacks in Pakistan. The fact is that we have always condemned these attacks and that we’ve been tireless in our efforts to combat terrorism wherever it appears. We know that their agenda is only death and destruction. That is the reason we need to regroup together and go after the terrorists with full force, so that they are unable to plan and carry out their attacks that kill innocent Pakistanis on a daily basis.

Such a sad situation. These crooks are killing poor people to take the revenge of atrocities of somebody else.
Work of BLA-BRA they attempted this twice before as well but failed this time they succeeded. Prayers for all the staff people who got injured in this incident. Majority of them are poor Sindhi and baloch people who work as cook, mali and chowkidar in somiani branch of Suparco and were returning home.
