RAWALPINDI:

The mysterious death of a retired army general has baffled the Islamabad police – though medics suggested it was a case of suicide.

Lt Gen (retd) Imtiaz Hussain, who belonged to the Sindh Regiment, was found dead at his bungalow in the upscale Defence Housing Authority at about 12 pm. He had a single gunshot wound to his head. “The bullet entered the left temple and exited through the opposite side,” said an officer of the Morgah police station.

Inspector Ikhlaq Ahmed, the SHO of Morgah Police, confirmed to The Express Tribune, while quoting from a statement of Gen Imtaiz’s wife, that the general committed suicide with his own pistol.

In her statement, she said that her husband was suffering from depression and on Saturday morning he shot himself in the head.

The former serviceman also sent text messages to his younger brother and brother-in-law before shooting himself.

Besides serving in the army at various posts, Lt Gen Hussain had also served as chairman of the Army Welfare Trust. He was issueless but the couple have an adopted son.

Lt Gen Hussain’s body was first shifted to the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi and later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for a post-mortem.

An Pakistan Army officer can not commit suicide, hard to believe. He could have been shot at close range by someone else using Imtiaz’s gun.

Medics say suicide, then why police is baffled? Unless the police has messed up with the crime scene, it shouldn’t be hard to figure out if murder or suicide.

Very very sad.Such sudden culmination of a prominent member of the society brings
the utter failure of life sometime to mind. The journalist community ,in its remarkable
investigative reporting, sometimes brings out the price of a suit or earrings but
fails to unearth major crime acts. What have they found out about late Rizvi’s death?
What actually happened or they are intentionally putting a tab? Please use
your energies to go into the events which are shaking the very foundation of this
society.Merely politicians should not be targeted for media rating purposes.

Maybe he asked General Kiyani to stop corruption and do something about the country. But General Kiyani must have said no Zardari is the best.

our heart is filled with grief. general imtiaz hussain was a very noble, intelligent and had patronizing behaviour with all. We had served together and had affiliation of about 20 years. We were ever happy and proud of his ech promotion. A very nice general who had put in about 38 years in Pak Army and 3 years in Army Welfare Trust as Chairman.

Gen Imtiaz Hussain was a very, very nobel man. He had the heart of gold and served his people to the best of his ability. He will remain in our hearts forever. Depression is like cancer, one eats the mind just as the other eats the body. It is sad but it is true. My humble request to all the people here: Please PRAY for the departed soul. Please pray for his maghfirat and Allah’s mercy on him. Nothing else matters at this point, no discussions, no justifications, no judgements, no speculations. All he needs from us is DUA. Please help him by praying for him as much as you can.
