LAHORE: The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) has called for the “immediate resignation” of Gilani. Through a press statement released by the JI’s headquarters Mansoora, party Amir Munnawar Hasan asked why the nation was kept waiting for so long if the Supreme Court had to convict the prime minister. He said that the same verdict could have been issued a few months back. On Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) reaction to the verdict, Hasan said that the ruling party had reverted back to its old habit of staging street demonstrations when things were not going their way.
