Looming Threats: Crisis cell warns of terror attacks

KARACHI:

The National Crisis Management Cell of the federal interior ministry has warned of possible terror attacks at the offices of the law enforcement agencies in the city.

According to police sources, the offices of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) at Civil Line and the Garden Headquarters and Rangers Headquarter near Shaheen Complex, would be the terrorists’ likely targets.

A senior CID officer on the condition of anonymity told The Express Tribune that besides the offices and sensitive installations, the senior officers who have been working against terrorist activities are also likely to be targeted by the outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He said that the law enforcers have already taken strict precautionary security measures to avoid any untoward incident.  The Rangers spokesperson, however, was unaware of any threats.

Meanwhile, security has been put on high alert at the Karachi Railway stations following the blast at the Lahore railway station that claimed three lives and wounded others. The Railway police officials complained that despite informing the government of the lack of security, proper arrangements still need to be made at the stations.
