PESHAWAR: With the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) looking for younger legs to take over from Misbahul Haq as Pakistan captain, experienced batsman and former captain Younus Khan has put his name in the hat to don the captain’s arm-band once again, saying that he will consider the offer if one is put forward by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Younus, who led Pakistan to the 2009 World Twenty20 title as well as the Champions Trophy semi-final later that year, resigned from captaincy after the home series against New Zealand in the UAE, claiming he was not getting support from the team members. Since then, the 34-year old has declined offers to lead the side, telling the authorities that he wanted to focus on his batting.
However, after questions being raised over Misbah’s captaincy in all the three formats, Younus expressed desire to share the responsibility.
“I will definitely consider any such offer from the PCB,” Younus told reporters in Peshawar.
Meanwhile, at 76 not out, Younus wants to play 100 Tests before hanging up his boots.
“I will retire after playing 100 Tests,” said the batsmen. “But it all depends on my performance and fitness.”
He also expressed disappointment at the postponement of the Bangladesh tour and said the nation will have to withstand the miscreants.
“Even the ICC cannot do anything on the revival of international cricket till the situation improves here.”
While touring nations continue to stay away from the country, Younus urged the media to focus on domestic cricket in order to gain the interest of the masses and get them into it as well. The former captain also lamented the spot-fixing scandal which defamed the country’s cricket and added that nobody had ever contacted him in this regard.

The cricket board should let Younis be the captain and see what changes he brings in the Pakistani team!
No One can take place of Misbah ul haq. He is still the best captain Pakistan ever produce...Misbah ul haq the pride of Pakistan and Nation are proud of him:)
younas is a great player because of him pak team can show better perfomance,but afradi and haffez is good captain fof pak team for oneday cricket,best of luck for younas for your future....
He should have succeeded the captaincy after Inzi retired in 2007 but kept resigning for various reasons. If he had been the captain after inzi, he would have had 5 yrs to build a team and at this time would have been settled and peaking. Imran Khan said the ODI captain also be the Test captain for several reasons such as, Test requires more strategic thinking and a captain is tested alot more in Tests, which would only benefit him and make him a better captain in ODI. I agree with Khan. Test and ODI should be Younis Khan and for T20 Hafeez.
younis is the other tuk tuk. then whts wrong with misbah, at least he produced results.
Test...Younis ODI & T20... no option better than Afridi
I think M.Hafeez is best choice for pcb in all format .hafeez should be captain for next worldcup.Abdul razzaq should be in playing 11, he has a lot of cricket now.no one can replace abdul razzaq.
Younus Khan is a great player but and Yes he is a great leader too. But its tyme for the young young guns to take over.
Captaincy for both forms should be different and currently Hafeez is the best choice :)
Younus Khan is a great player but he is not a great leader, He should keep away from politics and focus more on performance. We need him to play 100 tests rather than leave forever after a series loss.
For test..definitely a good back-up after Misbah..but for ODIs and T20...Hmmm plz consider Professor (Hafeez)..
