Speaking on Express News programme To the Point with Shahzeb Khanzada, Gilani maintained his innocence saying Brigadier Fahim, who had testified in the Supreme Court against him, had yet to present solid evidence against him.
"From what I have heard on television, a person who claimed he had influential links turned up and asked for the quota," he said.
Explaining his absence from the country as the Supreme Court issued him summons, Gilani said that he had plans of taking his honeymoon after his November wedding. “I got married on November 27, on the 28th, I started campaigning for the elections,” he said adding “I got elected on February 25, applied for visa which takes one month to process and then left the country. “
He maintained that he had left the country before the Supreme Court even issued summons.
But the twists were not over yet as Gilani went on to claim that he had never received any summons. “I was in Islamabad to listen to the President’s address in the joint session and did not receive any summons,” he said adding that once he heard about it on the media, he wrote a letter to the investigating officer Zulfiqar, then DG Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Major General Syed Shakil Hussian, and Secretary ANF that he had nothing to do with the case.
“Only one Brigadier Fahim is talking about it, no other officer has come forward,” he questioned.
Ephedrine quota is not under the domain of ANF
Ali Musa Gilani, while claiming that he was probably not even in the country when the quota had been allotted, said that the ANF was working outside its domain on the egregious quota allotted to Berlex Laboratories International.
“The case is outside ANF’s domain, it comes under the drug act and is up to drug inspectors to investigate and act on this,” he said.
Alleging that his case had been deliberately picked up by the Supreme Court, he said that there were at least a 100 cases regarding the same drug under the drug act pending in lower courts. “All this [SC taking up the case] does is build pressure on the lower courts,” Gilani said.
‘Musa Gilani impersonators making hay on my name’
Alerting to the presence of ‘fake’ Musa Gilani’s exhorting numerous officials for favours, Gilani said that he himself had one such impersonator arrested from Multan, while DPO Okara had arrested another.
He categorically denied that any person by the name of “Tauqeer”, who had on numerous occasions identified himself as the secretary of Gilani, had been in his service as a personal aide.
“Till I was elected as an MNA, the Prime Minister had strictly forbidden us to call up any official except the CCPO or other local government officials in Multan to solve problems of people of our constituency,” Gilani said.
He also blamed the authorities for immediately picking up any thing remotely linked to the Gilani family.
When asked whether the Army was involved in a vendetta against his family, Gilani said “some entity other than the Army is involved in fanning this.”

If he is innocent, he should come and face the court and clear his name from allegations? will he do so?????????
Who cares to understand the difference between an Accused and a Guilty person? Almost everyone, from a layman to popular anchors on electronic media, is fond of jumping to conclusions. Gossip, Gossip, Gossip- the only entertainment left for us.
@Khan: Its amazing how a Chief Justice of Pakistan can be so capable of becoming soooo....controvertial regardless of whether justified or unjustified.
He is the son of a pir, descended from saints. His father sits on a gaddi. He is not a peon's son.
You should have expect this type of criticism and being targeted, as whatever your father and elder brother has done.
I think you shouldn't worry and shouldn't waste time to make money as much as you can in one year. See president, whatever media is portraying him what type criticism is doing, he does not bother for it.
@ Truth exposed.. the guy went for honeymoon.. what truth are you talking about.. Read the article and read what he is saying..
Come on.. the guy is on honeymoon give him a break. There are bugger issues the country is facing right now. which include power crises..10 year long never ending war.. and the most important issue of lack of education of the population. Please talk about the bigger issues the country is facing. All of us know about the corruption. This article is BS. I agree with the Indian Kid. talk about the REAL issues. Enough said..
Selective justice...wah CJ wa .... you have proved to be the product of a dictator
@Indian Kashmiri: Mind your own business
Before the 2008 elections Mr Yusuf Raza Gilani owned 50 acres of agricultural land and couldn't even afford a car to collect his kids from school. So finally he got a job that that enabled him to lift himself out of his relative poverty.
After all, Pakistan is known for being a land of copious opportunities!
All over the world the principal of justice is same ,,,,,, everyone is innocent until proved guilty so don't rush to conclusions, have faith in legal system
Smaller thieves escape to tribal areas while bigger ones to foreign countries.... My Physics teacher used to say that there is symmetry in universe. Now I can see how true he was.
They are the real enemies of Pakistan, now ready for Revenge because pak means PAK people
U peoples are the cause of all problems in pakistan man feudal plus peer zaday.
@anonymus: all politicians and specially the big fishes are well known businessmen beside a politician, but Mr. Gillani and family doesn't have any established business (except haj scandal and this one)
Great,Lets blame the CJ.
@Umair: all politicians should be as rich as nawaz sharif or at least mushraf or progeny of general akhtar abdur rahman by applying same halal means.
compare corruption before 77 and after that. nawabzada Nasuralh used to sell land in every election!!! no body gets rich in our country with fair means . every body is rich at state expense!!!!! no exceptions
So why did his father order the removal of those honest officers who were investigating the case?
Oh so you steal and we aren't even supposed to question. Trully democracy is the best revenge.
so this all-important guy was being impersonated?! #scoffs
Aren't all thieves 'deliberately targeted'?
A family becomes billionaire in four years doesn't make sense, being targeted makes sense!
