KARACHI:

Pakistan’s leading golfers have struck a deal with a leading cellular company which will sponsor them in national and international tournaments.

The company has signed deals with Pakistan number one Shabbir Iqbal, second-ranked Matloob Ahmed and third-placed Muhammad Munir besides junior national champion Mubariz Ahmed.

The company will bear the players’ participation expenses in national and international events. Iqbal termed the development as a boost for country’s golf. “This is the first time I’ve been given such a deal,” the seasoned golfer told The Express Tribune. “If the company follows its plans then golf will flourish in Pakistan.”
