Anti-encroachment drive: Distt. admin to remove illegal signboards

MIRPUR: The district administration has ordered the removal of encroachments including illegal signboards and hoardings from city streets to avert any threat to lives during windstorms. The action has been taken under the Prohibition of Wall Chalking and Affixing of Hoardings Act. On Tuesday, official sources said that as result of the extensive drive to remove wall chalking and hoardings depicting objectionable signs in advertisements of certain products, the authorities removed scores of illegally-installed signboards and hoardings from the city. The local authorities have so far removed installations from Allama Iqbal Road, Mian Muhammad Road, Defence Road, Kotli Road. Punitive action will be taken against those defying the law.
