LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday ordered the District Coordination Officer Ahad Cheema to “immediately” de-seal the office of Pearl Continental Hotel trade union’s registrar. Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan also ordered the DCO to explain, in writing, under what law he had sealed the office. The judge issued the orders when Cheema said that he had the authority to seal the registrar’s office. Petitioner’s counsel Aftab Ahmad Bajwa told the judge that the hotel management had transferred the registrar before sealing his office. At this, Justice Khan ordered the former registrar to conduct the union referendum and to submit a report to court on February 21.
