New ambassador: Sherry to meet Obama on Jan 18

She will be at the Pakistan Embassy on Monday and will pay courtesy calls to senior State Department officials.

WASHINGTON: Sherry Rehman arrived in the US capital as Pakistan’s ambassador to the US. A Pakistan Embassy spokesperson told The Express Tribune that the former MNA was greeted at the airport by Pakistan Embassy and US State Department officials. The spokesperson added that Rehman will be at the Pakistan Embassy on Monday and will pay courtesy calls to senior State Department officials during the week. The spokesperson also said that Rehman will meet US President Barack Obama on January 18 to present her credentials. “The United States has agreed to the appointment of Rehman as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States. At the appropriate time in the near future, she will be invited to the White House to join other newly-arrived ambassadors for presenting their credentials to the president,” White House spokesperson Caitlin Hayden told The Express Tribune earlier.
