15-Hour Blaze: Tissue paper burns in godown fire

Goods worth over a million rupees were destroyed in a fire in a Packages factory godown in Factory Area

LAHORE: Goods worth over a million rupees were destroyed in a fire in a Packages factory godown in Factory Area police jurisdiction on Thursday. Rescue 1122 officials said the fire started in the godown at around 5am. Fourteen fire trucks were sent to control the blaze and they were finally able to do so after a 15-hour battle. They said that the godown, which covered an area of about five kanals, stored toilet paper rolls, tissue paper and other paper goods. They said that the destroyed stock was worth well over a million rupees. The Rescue officials said that the cause of the fire was unknown. They said that the factory was equipped with fire hydrants and other fire fighting equipment but because of Eid holidays there were no workers present to put out the fire when it started.
