Orders issued to wrap up work on IJP Road

NLC officials say work on vital road project will be completed by April next year

ISLAMABAD:

A Capital Development Authority (CDA) meeting was told that 41 per cent of development work on IJP Road has been completed

Briefing CDA Chairman Aamir Ali Ahmed, NLC officials said that of the target of completion of 38 per cent of work on the road by May, 40 per cent of work has been completed. The meeting was informed that the ongoing work on the project was moving towards completion as per the set target and it was expected that the project would be completed before April 2023.

The meeting was further informed that simultaneous work on all parts of the project was in full swing.

The CDA chairman directed to expedite work so that the four-kilometre road from Pirwadhai bus stand to Pirwadhai Mor could be completed by August.

He said that the two lanes should be opened to traffic so that the citizens did not face difficulties due to the development work.

The meeting agreed to further streamline the traffic system in the twin cities.

In this regard, instructions have been issued that alternative routes should be opened within 15 days to maintain the flow of traffic.

In addition, a control room would be set up at the NLC's camp office on Ninth Avenue to tow away vehicles from roads in case of an accident so that the traffic flow did not disrupt.

In addition, instructions were issued to install cameras on IJP Road for effective surveillance.

The meeting was informed that the completion of the road project would help provide better transportation facilities to the citizens of the twin cities and overcome traffic jams.

The CDA issued directives to speed up the work and ensure high quality of work in all circumstances and all available resources should be used to complete the project ahead of the schedule.

The 9.8 kilometre-long project includes the construction of two flyovers, two bridges and seven culverts costing Rs4.9 billion. The road has four lanes on both sides and of them, two lanes have been reserved for heavy traffic and two lanes for light traffic.
