LAHORE: Lahore police on Sunday arrested a proclaimed offender in the murder case of former additional advocate general Punjab Arif Bhindar after 13 years on the run.

A case was filed against the accused, Ghulam Sarwar, on January 12, 2007 but he managed to escape and settled abroad.

According to the Lahore police's spokesperson, the first information report (FIR) contained Pakistan Penal Code 302, 7 ATA and other criminal provisions.

He arrived in Lahore in January and went underground to avoid his arrest.

He was in contact with his family through the popular messaging app WhatsApp and was constantly changing his location.

After a month of search for Sarwar, the police finally took him into custody today.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Zulfiqar Hameed lauded the efforts of police officials and is hopeful that the progress will reach a logical conclusion.
